Your friends and family are more then welcome to attend, however spectators are not permitted inside THE BOW building during the course of the competition. Friends and family are welcome to wait on 6th Avenue for you, where they can watch you cross the finish line on floor 55 from the streetside jumbotron.

Why are they climbing?

These remarkable men and women are climbing 1,204 steps and 775 vertical feet (on top of 3400 feet of elevation!) in support of a highly regarded local charity, Wellspring Calgary, which supports firefighters and civilians living with cancer. Their vision is that no one has to face cancer alone.

What is Wellspring Calgary?

Wellspring Calgary supports, informs and empowers people diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families and caregivers. Programs help members address the fear, isolation, disruption and practical problems cancer brings to their lives. All Wellspring Calgary programs, services and resources are offered free of charge and without referral so no one has to face cancer alone. www.wellspringcalgary.ca

What is The Calgary Firefighters Benevolent Society?

The Calgary Firefighters Benevolent Society’s (CFBS) purpose is to provide assistance to firefighters and their families when they experience health related issues. Firefighting is an inherently dangerous and unhealthy occupation. Only the fittest and healthiest of the population are recruited and unfortunately, due to the many adverse exposures a firefighter faces, the majority of them retire with serious health and injury related problems. The CFBS addresses these needs.

What about tax receipts?

Donations of $20.00 or more will receive a Canadian tax receipt for the entire amount of the donation (provided all donor information is provided with the gift). You will either receive an electronic receipt from Wellspring Calgary if your donation was made online by credit card, or you will be snail-mailed a receipt from Wellspring Calgary for cash and cheque donations.

If you are collecting cash and cheques for your climb from family and friends, please use the PLEDGE FORM here and on the ‘download forms’ page under “For Firefighters Only”.

When does registration open?

Registration will open on January 12, 2017. Watch facebook & twitter and your email (if you are a past participant) for the notice.

How much does it cost to participate in this event?

A minimum $200 donation is required to participate in this event. You can donate at the time of your registration OR you can raise that amount later from family, friends and neighbours. (The $200 will be charitably tax receipted.)  Your $200 must be received by March 31, 2017 to reserve your place in the climb. As of April 1, 2017, the fee will increase to $250 per climber. Also, if you haven’t raised your required minimum $200 by March 31, your credit card will be charged the balance.

People tell us it’s easy to fundraise for support when you let others know you are taking on this personal best challenge to help people living with cancer. Use your participant centre to send emails and direct people to your fundraising page. If you’re in a team, as long as your team has raised $800 total, each firefighter’s registration fee is assumed to be covered.

Every $150 you raise ensures one person receives one full month of programs and resources offered through Wellspring Calgary. The more you raise, the more people you directly impact!

Who do I make cheques payable to?

Please make cheques payable to Wellspring Calgary. They can be mailed to 1404 Home Rd NW Calgary AB T3B 1G7, Attn: Fund Development. If you are sponsoring a specific firefighter or team, make sure you attach a note on or to the cheque to name the person or team so they will qualify for the incentive prizes!
