I am personally wishing to dedicate my climb in 2017 to a very special uncle in my life – Orville Ackerman. There have only been a few influential people in my life and Uncle Orville was certainly one of the strongest. A farmer from the Chamberlain, Sask area and the father of 4 incredable boys/men, Uncle Orville was ALWAYS a pillar of strength & courage and had such a kind heart and would go out of his way, regardless of what he was doing, to help anybody. Uncle Orville was also a “Master” at teaching life’s lessons, and in so doing was also one of the most patient men you likely will have ever meet. I am the man I am today because of many of my Uncle’s life lessons and directions. I witnessed a very strong man battle cancer and while doing so, he continued to be strong for everybody around him, and he would continue to guide, direct and teach, right up to his passing on November 29, 2016. I participated in last year’s Stairclimb Challange for the first time, and I can honestly say it was grueling. I feel this year, by dedicating my climb to my Uncle Orville, I will have all the motivation & inspiration needed to get myself through this climb.
