To our treasured Firefighter Stairclimb participants, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters.
Given the pressing need by all of us to take preventative actions in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are writing to advise that we are postponing the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge.
As critical first-responders, volunteers and supporters, we know that you will understand our need to protect all of you and our community. Doing our best to prevent the spread of this disease is our best weapon to preserve the health of everyone in our community.
We have spoken to H & R Reit, the owner of the beautiful Bow Building, who have indicated that they would like to reschedule the event with us as the situation becomes more favourable. Please know that we will send additional direction to you as it becomes available.
Sincere thanks for your remarkable support, patience and understanding.
Cancer is a prevalent occupational hazard of the firefighter’s job. Proceeds from this event ensure Wellspring Calgary can provide supportive care to firefighters and citizens living with cancer. This is made possible thanks to the generous support and involvement of the Calgary Fire Department, the International Association of Firefighters Local 255, H&R Reit, and our event sponsors.

This year marks the 6th Annual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge in support of Wellspring Calgary. Originally inspired by Kathy Blas, sister of local fallen firefighter Gord Paul, the event and its proceeds support firefighters and citizens in our community who are fighting cancer. Wellspring Calgary is pleased to announce Wellspring will gift a portion of proceeds to the Firefighters Assistance Charitable Society (FACS).
Wellspring Calgary provides programs, resources and support to people affected by cancer. Because a prevalent occupational hazard of the firefighter’s job is cancer, Wellspring works to ensure the needs of firefighters are considered alongside the needs of all its community members. Wellspring Calgary is proud to work with the Calgary Fire Department, and the Calgary Firefighters Association (IAFF Local 255) in support of those living with cancer including brave members of our firefighting community.
