Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge

In-person: June 5, 2022

Virtual: May 20-June 5, 2022

In support of Wellspring Calgary

Do you have what it takes?

This year marks the 8th annual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge in support of Wellspring Calgary. In most years, this is a live event at The Bow in Calgary, Alberta, but this year participants will have the chance to climb in-person and outdoors at Canada Olympic Park (COP) on June 5, 2021 or virtually from May 20 – June 5, 2022. The event is open to anyone who wants to fundraise and participate, but firefighters must climb in full duty gear.

Originally inspired by Kathy Blas, sister of local fallen firefighter Gord Paul, the event and its proceeds support firefighters and citizens in our community who are fighting cancer. This event is made possible thanks to the generous support and involvement of the Calgary Fire Department, the International Association of Firefighters Local 255 and our event sponsors.

How it Works

Firefighters and members of the public from all over come together, either online or in-person, to compete and climb 774 feet – all while raising money for Wellspring Calgary!

Why We Climb

Cancer is a prevalent occupational hazard of the firefighter’s job. Proceeds from this event ensure Wellspring Calgary can provide supportive care to firefighters and citizens living with cancer.
