Two firefighters from the station in Engesvang, Denmark threw themselves into an international challenge last Friday, which involved 1,204 steps in a 20-kilo worksuit.
Join us for the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge wrap-up on Facebook Live, where we will announce prize winners and hear from Calgary Fire Department Chief, Steve Dongworth, as well as Codey McIntyre, Acting President of the Firefighters Assistance Charitable Society.
On Sunday, May 2, Chief Neufeld donned the full 50 pounds of firefighter gear and went toe-to-toe with Chief Dongworth. After climbing 1,204 steps outside, Chief Dongworth emerged as the winner, by 10 seconds.
While Red Deer has a multitude of wondrous qualities, this year it can add to the list … a set of ‘Competitive Stairs’ for firefighters who are competing in the 7th annual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge in support of Wellspring Calgary.
